Our Instructors

Both the head instructors at Kingsland Martial Arts have more than a decade of experience in Hapkido. We have held first aid certificates in case of unforseen injuries.

Paul and Aaron are both involved in the New Zealand Hapkido Federation actively contributing to the style.

Paul started training in Hapkido in 1996 at the Dunedin Club. He then moved to the Lower Hutt club and graduated to first dan in 2000. Paul has also studied other martial arts including Karate, Jujitsu, and while in the UK trained in ITF TKD under the former British team member and National Champion Ernesto Simac as well as former world champion Silvio Simac.

Paul graded to second dan in September 2004.

Aaron originally trained at the Parnell Kukjae Hapkido club started training in Hapkido in 1996. He graded to first dan in 2001 and second dan in 2004.

Aaron runs in 10km road races for fun and is a strong advocate of fitness as an integral part of self defence training.
